Last week I was fortunate to be able to attend one of Cat Bordhi‘s fall knitting retreats. If you have not heard of Cat’s retreats, they are held at the beautiful Lakedale Resort on San Juan Island in Washington State.
Throughout the retreat Cat led mini-workshops on various techniques including forensic knitting, moebius, sweet-tomato sock heels (that I will be presenting in a sock class at Happy Knits coming up soon!), Judy’s Magic Cast-On, Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off and more! We also had plenty of time to knit and get to know the other attendees and free time to enjoy the island, hike, canoe on the lakes surrounding the resort or sit on the lodge’s porch next to an outdoor fireplace.
People of all knitting abilities were in attendance, including Alexandra who came to the retreat having never knit before and went home with a completed moebius cowl as her first project!
One afternoon Island Fibers from nearly Lopez Island set up shop for us, followed by myself with some Madelinetosh Vintage and Kristine with Curious Creek Fibers to make sure everybody had plenty of yarn choices incase anybody was feeling a little too detached from their stash at home.
If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend both Lakedale Resort as a fantastic northwest getaway spot and any of Cat Bordhi’s classes, workshops or retreats!
